Top 10 Habits of Annoying Drivers

Top 10 Habits of Annoying Drivers Do other drivers honk at you for no apparent reason?   Do people yell out their window or flash obscene gestures at you when you're just driving along, minding your own business? If you answered yes to either (or both) of these questions, you might be an annoying driver. Now don't get me wrong, being semi-retired I am very rarely in a rush to get anywhere.  But the actions of annoying drivers could cause those who ARE in a hurry, to reach their boiling point and go all "Road Ragey" on you.  Here's a list of things I see drivers do every single day that are aggravating to other drivers, including me. 1.  Creating a rolling blockade;  If you are going the exact same speed as the vehicle next to you, you are making it totally impossible for anyone to pass.  This is particularly annoying on any road with only two lanes in each direction.  Move to the next lane and allow other drivers to pass, even if they're b...

Flag Day is today

If you own a flag, today is a great day to fly it.  If you don't own a flag, today is a great day to buy one. There had been ceremonies celebrating Flag Day since the middle of the 1800's, however it wasn't until August 3, 1949, Congress approved the national observance of Flag Day, and President Harry Truman signed it into law.   Personally, I look for any occasion to fly my flag.  I'm not some crazy, over-the-top zealot.  I just happen to love America.   Reciting the pledge of allegiance every morning in school was a source of pride for me.  When I attend sporting events, I always remove my cap and place it over my heart while the Star Spangled Banner is being performed.  If you're talking to me when the national anthem begins, you can expect me to turn toward the flag and ignore whatever you might be saying.  My iPod has Whitney Houston's version of the national anthem on it; it gives me chills.  I proudly support law enfor...

Can I just skip May 19th?

A strange feeling comes over me every May 19th for the last couple years.  I get the eebie-jeebies.   The reason can be traced back to May 19th, 2015.  At 8:00 am, I was in my beautiful truck on Madison Ave as two lanes of traffic waited for children to board a school bus with it's flashing red lights.  I was the last car in the line of traffic. Just as the school bus turned off its lights, my truck felt like it had just exploded!  I immediately realized that someone had hit me from behind and had done so with authority.  The force of the impact pushed my truck (with all four wheels locked up) approximately 15 feet forward, crushing the rear end of the Camry in front of me. As I exited what was left of my truck, I observed the driver responsible for the collision, a young man in his 20's, exit what I can only assume was once a vehicle.  I ran up to the Camry in front of me and asked the woman if she was injured.  She said she was shaken...

Why are pet stores still selling puppies from breeders?

Heidi Ron and Dora If you know me, you know I am passionate about several things; Cars, music and animals.  If you know me well enough, you may also know I worked a police K9 for 9 years.  I have the utmost respect for these four-legged warriors whose greatest love is working alongside their human partner. Suffice it to say, I respect their work ethic and their devotion to their human family. With that being said, I now have 2 pet dogs in my home (my police canine passed in April of 2016).  Both of my current dogs are from local rescues.  We got our first rescue dog 4 1/2 years ago.  She is a German Shepherd (GSD) we named Heidi.  Although this was our third GSD, she was our first from a rescue.  Our other GSD's were really good dogs, although both had health issues. Fast forward to February of 2017, we adopted a year old black Labrador Retriever we named Buster to be Heidi's companion.  Both of our rescue dogs are nothing ...
